Are you a travelist?

Lots of changes since my last post! Most obvious is probably the name change. I decided to drop the old name in favor of traveli.st, which I think represents the project much better. So, are you a travelist? Then traveli.st is for you!

But what about new features the pragmatics would ask? A cool new name is not impressive. Well, here they are:

Twitter integration

Yes, one feature I always wished I had. Being a long-time Twitter user, I always wished travel-related tweets would not get buried in piles of other tweets once I finish a trip and I can easily review them later. My tweets are my memories and I don’t want to lose them. How does traveli.st solve this issue? Easy. You just need to provide your Twitter username once (no password) and every time you are on a trip (of course, assuming you added it to traveli.st before you left), simply add “#trip” to your tweets and they will show up on your trip’s page – and stay there forever, so any time you look at your trip you can remember all the little funny details. Also, don’t worry if you already have tweets from past trips. They will be added automatically if you choose that.

Flickr integration

Similar to Twitter, Flickr is also useful service when you travel. See something you want to remember? Just snap it with your phone and send it to Flickr. Now you can make your Flickr photos appear on your trip’s page by simply tagging them as “travelist:trip=ID” (ID being a unique number that represents your trip). Have old photos on Flickr that you want to appear on a trip’s page? Just tag them appropriately and it will happen.

My world

Want to have a map of all the places you’ve ever been to? You have it. PS: the places where you only changed an airplane for example will not show up on this map. So make sure you set the place as “visited” if you’ve actually visited it and not set it if you, say, just stopped to buy gas or changed the train. :)

Statistics

I like statistics. And I think every traveler travelist does. Wondering what countries you’ve visited in 2008, how many kilometers you traveled by train in 2007 or what the northernmost place you’ve been to is? There is a new page especially made for statistics fans. Go and check it out.

That’s it mostly, besides some minor fixes and improvements here and there. Don’t forget to follow @travelistnews on Twitter for notifications about traveli.st.

Happy traveling!
